History

Welcome to Tabore

It was a long cherished desire of C.M.C Jayamatha Province Pala, to have a ‘Prayer House’ for the sisters of the province to be in solitude and silence away from their busy active life.

The provincial Synaxis held in 1985 decided to fulfill the longing of the members of the province to its ‘face value’. Thus ‘Tabore’ became a reality by the initiation of the Provincial Superior, Mother Silvia and the Provincial Councillors – Sr. Alfrida (Assistant), Sr. James, Sr. Philomina and Sr. Edwin. Sr. Jovitta, the Provincial treasurer, Sr. Veronica, the Secretary, Sr. Jusa, the house superior and many other members of the province collaborated with the council. The excellent service and hard work of Sr. Mareena who was appointed for the supervision of the construction and of Sr. Tesslit who assisted her also, contributed greatly for this house.

The foundation stone of the Prarthanalayam was laid down by His Excellency Mar Joseph Pallickaparambil, the Bishop of Pala Diocese on 22 nd April 1987, in the presence of the Provincial Council and many other well-wishers. According to the sight plan for the building designed by Rev.Fr.Abraham Perikilakkattil C.M.I., the engineer Sri.Thomas Vettoor carried out the construction work of the Prarthanalayam. By 3 rd August 1988, the work was almost completed.

The far sightedness and apostolic zeal of Rev. Mother Silvia, the Provincial superior who understood the heartbeats of the members of the province set out with an active enthusiasm and much courage for this great venture and made it asuccess which is tobe very much appreciated. Yes, our beloved Silviamma is the Founder Mother of TaborePrarthanalayam.

The Blessing

Tabore! The Mountain of God experience! Seeing the devine glory of the incarnated Word of God!, hearing the words of the great prophets standing immersed in the heavenly experience of the acceptance of the Son by God the Father, ‘the leader disciple’. Peter and others exclaimed “Lord, it is good for us to be here, if you wish, I will setup three tents here.” (Mt 17:4)

3 rd August 1988, a day written in Golden letters on the pages of Tabore! The birthday of Tabore! His Excellency officiated the solemn con-celebration of Holly Mass and House Warming Ceremony followed by the public meeting. His Excellency in his speech explained the relevance of such houses in this Era. Mother Silvia, clarified the aims and objectives of Tabore Prarthanalayam with gratitude and immense joy. She recalled the exhortation of the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, “to offer a completely evangelized world to Jesus Christ as a birthday present by the year 2000.” It was really a Devine inspiration to her for the direct Evangelization in the Center for all the people. Along with the construction of Tabore house, a house was built and given to our nearest neighbor which doubled our joy.

The first members of the community were Sr.Ancy (Local Superior), Sr.Augusta (Director), Sr.Peter Maria, Sr. Tesslit, Sr.Sigi Therese and Sr.Reeja Maria.

Within a period of time, from the beginning till now about a hundred and twenty sisters became part of the community and all of them worked hard for the growth of Prarthanalayam and for the Parish also.
