Founder

Silviamma is a name written in golden letters in the history of C.M.C. Amma’s name is well-known not only in the CMC congregation but also in most of the congregations and neighborhoods in Kerala. There are not many who have not experienced the results of mother’s ministry at the general and provincial levels. Mother Silvia was born on January 2, 1929 as the youngest daughter of Appachan and Rosamma in Pallikkuttummamedayil family. In 1950 she took her first vow as Carmelite nun. As a teacher, innocent and peaceful nature and smiling face of Sr. Silvia was an inspiration to her colleagues, students and those who interacted with her.

Silviamma served in Aluva Generalate as Superior General, General Councilor, and Prefect of Study. In her time foreign mission became widespread. Sr. Stella Maria recorded “During the loving care of Silviamma, the congregation grew and the services of the CMC congregation spread to the continents of Africa and America. She also prepared ways to start houses in the Holy Land and Rome. In short, the role played by Mother in making CMC as a global congregation is invaluable”. She is also started the service in a nursing home in Germany.

In 1982, Silviamma was elected as the Provincial Superior of Jayamatha Province, Pala. The far sightedness and apostolic zeal of Rev. Mother Silvia, the Provincial superior who understood the heartbeats of the members of the province set out with an active enthusiasm and much courage for this great venture and made it a success which is to be very much appreciated. Yes, our beloved Silviamma is the Founder Mother of Tabore Prarthanalayam. Mother Silvia, clarified the aims and objectives of Tabore Prarthanalayam with gratitude and immense joy. She recalled the exhortation of the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, “to offer a completely evangelized world to Jesus Christ as a birthday present by the year 2000.” It was really a Devine inspiration to her for the direct Evangelization in the Center for all the people. On February 5, 2004 Silviamma left this world for the eternal reward.
